Our Reviews

Do You Need Professional Rug Cleaning?

Most rugs go years longer than they should between professional cleanings. If any of these sound familiar, it's time.

  • Surface cleaning doesn't reach urine that's soaked into both sides of the rug. Hand washing at our facility does.

  • Dust and soil settle deep into rug fibers and dull the original color. A proper deep clean brings the brightness back.

  • Always have a vintage, inherited, or secondhand rug professionally cleaned before use. You don't know what's been on it.

  • Dust mites, dander, and pollen collect in rug fibers. Hand washing removes what vacuuming can't reach.

  • If you can't remember, it's been too long. Most rugs benefit from professional cleaning every 1 to 3 years.

  • Wine, coffee, vomit, ink, pet accidents. Most can come out with the right method, even if home cleaning failed.

Types of Rugs We Clean in Tampa

We have hand-washed and cared for every type of rug for our 25+ years of work. Some require deeper expertise than others. The three below are where most of our specialty work lives.

A traditional Persian-style rug with a red background, geometric patterns, floral motifs, and intricate borders.

Oriental Rugs

Oriental rugs come from a vast region spanning Iran, Turkey, China, India, Pakistan, and the Caucasus. They range from delicate hand-knotted heirlooms worth tens of thousands to durable hand-tufted and machine-made pieces. Each origin has its own knot count, fiber blend, dye tradition, and construction style, and each one needs different chemistry. We hand-wash all hand-knotted and hand-tufted oriental rugs at our Tampa facility in controlled conditions. Drying is monitored to protect both fibers and dyes throughout the process.

Persian Rugs

Persian rugs are the gold standard of hand-knotted construction, woven in Iran for centuries using traditional patterns like Tabriz, Kashan, Isfahan, and Heriz. Authentic Persians use natural wool, silk, and cotton paired with plant-based dyes that can be sensitive to modern cleaners. The wrong chemistry can bleed colors, weaken fibers, or strip the rug's natural sheen. We've cleaned Persian rugs for 25+ years using pH-balanced solutions and controlled water temperatures. Older Persians sometimes need a colorfast test before full washing, and we always do that first.

Antique Rugs

Antique rugs (50+ years old, sometimes well over 100) need conservation-aware cleaning, not aggressive deep cleaning. Older fibers are more fragile, original dyes can be sensitive to modern chemicals, and structural integrity may be weaker than it looks. We assess every antique rug before cleaning and adjust the method to match its condition. Sometimes that means a gentler wash. Sometimes it means recommending no wet cleaning at all. The goal is preservation, not just appearance. We've worked with antique Persian, Caucasian, Anatolian, and tribal rugs.

    • Hand-knotted rugs: Highest-value construction, washed by hand at our facility

    • Wool rugs: Natural fiber, durable but reactive to harsh products

    • Silk rugs: The most delicate fiber, requires the gentlest method

    • Hand-tufted rugs: Glued backing requires careful treatment to prevent delamination

    • Area rugs: Any size, any fiber, residential or commercial

    • Synthetic rugs: Polypropylene, nylon, polyester, often cleanable in your home

    • Sheepskin, jute, sisal, bamboo: Specialty fibers each need their own approach

If you have a rug type we haven't listed, call us. We've probably worked on it.

Advantages to Professional Rug Cleaning

Cleaning your rugs isn't just for appearance. It protects your investment, your air, and your health.

  • Pet odors gone at the source: Enzyme-based soak treatment breaks down urine proteins where they actually live. Surface cleaning can't reach it.

  • Original color brought back: Dust deep in the foundation pulls life out of every fiber. Removing it restores the rug's original tones.

  • Allergens dialed down: Hand washing extracts dust mites, dander, and pollen from both sides of the rug. Vacuuming only gets the top.

  • Decades added to the life of your rug: Built-up grit acts like sandpaper from below as you walk. Regular cleaning protects fibers and structure.

  • Investment protected: Hand-knotted, oriental, and antique rugs hold or gain value when properly maintained. Cleaning is part of that maintenance.

In-Plant Hand Washing vs. In-Home Cleaning

Not every rug needs to leave your home. Here's how to know which method is right.

In-plant hand washing is the right choice for:

  • Oriental, Persian, or hand-knotted rugs

  • Wool, silk, or antique rugs

  • Rugs with significant pet contamination

  • Rugs with delicate or natural dyes

  • Anything you'd be heartbroken to lose

In-home cleaning works for:

  • Synthetic machine-made rugs (polypropylene, nylon, polyester)

  • Smaller area rugs in good condition

  • Rugs that aren't practical to pick up

  • Indoor-outdoor and basement rugs

We tell you honestly which method is right when we inspect the rug. The default for anything valuable or delicate is in-plant.

Pet Stain and Odor Removal for Rugs

Pet urine on a rug is one of the hardest things to fix and the area we get the most calls about. Most cleaners can't handle it because they only treat the surface.

    • Urine soaks through both sides of the rug

    • Foundation cotton or wool absorbs and holds the contamination

    • Surface enzymes don't reach the deepest spots

    • Crystals re-activate with humidity, even months later

    • UV inspection to find every affected area

    • Full immersion soak with enzyme treatment for hand-washable rugs

    • Multiple wash cycles for severe contamination

    • Controlled drying to prevent mildew growth

Most pet odor problems are fixable with the right treatment. Severe cases sometimes can't be fully resolved, and we'll tell you honestly during the inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most rugs take 5 to 10 business days. Larger rugs, severe pet contamination, or antique restoration may take longer. We give you a clear timeline at pickup.

  • Yes, with the right method. Silk requires gentle hand washing, controlled drying, and pH-appropriate solutions. We've been cleaning silk rugs for years. Most cleaners refuse silk because they only have machines.

  • We test colorfastness before washing. Older rugs with natural dyes can be more fragile, and we adjust the method to protect them. If there's a real risk, we discuss it before starting.

  • Look at the back. Hand-knotted rugs show individual knots visible from behind. Machine-made rugs have a uniform, often gridded backing. We can tell at a glance during pickup.

  • We can usually repair it. We assess during pickup and quote repair separately from cleaning.

  • We don't formally appraise value, but we can give you a sense of construction quality and origin during pickup.

  • In most cases, yes, with full immersion treatment and multiple wash cycles. Severe long-term contamination sometimes can't be fully resolved, and we'll tell you honestly at pickup.

  • Most homes: every 2 to 3 years.

With pets: every 12 to 18 months.

Antique or fine rugs: more conservatively unless visibly soiled.

  • Not necessarily. Synthetic rugs in good condition can often be cleaned in-home. Valuable or delicate rugs go to our facility for hand washing.

  • We offer free pickup and delivery, but if you prefer to drop off, just call to schedule.
